Civilization guide
Rise of Kingdoms civilizations — choosing among all 15
Pick a starting civilization, then know when construction, research, healing, training, troop, or rally bonuses justify a later change.

Rise of Kingdoms has fifteen civilizations. The right choice changes with account age and responsibility, so separate the best starting option from the best current-role option.
Best start for most new governors: China
China's building-speed bonus applies while the city has a long chain of important structures to raise. Sun Tzu is also a useful Epic starting commander. This makes China a practical default, not a permanent universal winner.
Broad long-term activity: Germany
Training speed and action-point recovery support recurring account activity, while cavalry attack serves a developed mounted march. Germany is useful when routine troop production and field activity matter more than early construction.
Repeated open-field fighting: France
Troop health applies broadly, and faster hospital healing helps accounts that fight and recover often. France is a strong practical choice for active field players even when the special unit is not the only troop used.
Research push: Korea
Research speed is most valuable during a planned sequence of expensive technologies. Calculate the civilization-change cost and duration of the research plan before switching for a short timer.
Rally leaders need role-specific choices
Arabia supports cavalry rallies, Greece supports infantry rallies, and Egypt supports archer rallies. These recommendations only fit the player actually leading those rallies. A supporting alliance member should favor bonuses used across everyday activity.
Damage-profile choices
Ottoman Empire helps active-skill-oriented marches. Maya supports normal damage. Vikings rewards infantry and counterattack pressure, while Rome adds infantry defense and march speed. Choose only after the account has a complete pair whose battle reports show that damage profile.
Economic and utility options
Japan helps gathering and scouting; Spain supports city production and neutral-unit experience; Britain supports training and allied garrisons; Byzantium combines cavalry health with hospital capacity. Each can solve a real bottleneck without being the strongest combat choice.
What civilization does not decide
It does not lock the account to one troop type, starting commander, or permanent strategy. Commanders, technology, equipment, formations, alliance role, and kingdom season have larger combined effects than a civilization bonus viewed alone.
A safe switching test
Before using a civilization change, write down the bonus that will be active most days, the mature march it supports, and how long the benefit must run to repay the change cost. If the answer depends on one short event, wait.
