Identify the Armada before choosing a crew
An Armada is a coordinated fight with a launch timer and limited participation slots. Start by naming the target type. Normal, uncommon, rare, epic and specialized Armadas can use different directives, access rules and combat mechanics. A crew that succeeds against one category is not automatically correct for another.
Scan the target and read its current activity description. Confirm the directive cost, target level, travel time and the ship classes already committed by the alliance.
The launcher sets the plan
The commander opening the Armada should communicate the system, target, launch time, expected power and any crew requirement. Allow enough time for the slowest invited ship to arrive. Participants should repair and crew before joining so a late setup change does not waste a slot.
Power is only a first filter. A lower-power ship with the correct target abilities can contribute more than a larger ship carrying inactive officers.
Build one coherent crew
Choose a Captain's Maneuver that activates against the target, then add bridge abilities that improve the same plan. Use below-deck effects or stats that support survival and damage for that encounter. Avoid combining attractive officers whose conditions cannot occur together.
If the alliance is testing a setup, change one element at a time. Keeping the target and most of the crew constant makes the next combat report useful.
Read the report after every close result
The report shows whether the group lacked survival, damage or a required interaction. Compare rounds survived, mitigation, critical behavior and each participant's contribution. A failed Armada can still reveal the exact upgrade or crew change needed for the next attempt.
A reliable launch checklist
- Confirm target type and current rules.
- Confirm directives and available slots.
- Share coordinates, launch time and power guidance.
- Check every ship's travel time.
- Match crews to the target rather than the ship name alone.
- Leave enough repair capacity for the planned session.
- Review the report and record the limiting factor.
Armadas become one of STFC's most satisfying systems when every member understands the plan. The goal is a repeatable alliance method, not a single lucky victory.
