NTE Arcs, Consoles, and Modules — build upgrades in the right order
Separate character acquisition from Arc, Console, Module, and equipment investment so one four-Esper team becomes functional before resources are spread.

Treat every Esper as part of a build stack: character level and skills, Arc, Consoles, Modules, equipment, and four-character Cycle compatibility. Acquiring a character is only the first layer.
Start with the team function
Name the character's job: sustained field damage, burst window, Cycle setup, Cycle completion, buffing, control, or survival. The best next upgrade is the layer limiting that job, not automatically the rarest object in the inventory.
Arc decisions follow the role
An Arc should strengthen the behavior the character performs in the real rotation. A signature or limited Arc can be powerful, but its cost must be compared with improving several existing team members. Read trigger conditions and uptime instead of judging only base rarity.
Consoles and Modules need a threshold plan
Use these systems to reach a named result: enough survival for a floor, enough meter economy for a stable swap sequence, or enough output for a timed objective. Stop once the current bottleneck changes. Broad upgrading makes every character look developed while leaving no complete team.
Equipment supports the rotation
Compare set effects, main properties, sub-properties, and who actually holds field time. A support that enters briefly may value uptime or team effects more than personal damage. A main damage dealer needs the properties that apply during its real window.
Build four characters, then a substitute
Complete the first legal four-character team before raising a large bench. The fifth investment should answer a known weakness—another element, more survival, or a mode-specific role—rather than duplicate the same field-time demand.
Test one change at a time
Use the same encounter and rotation, then compare clear time, survival, meter availability, and failed Cycles. An upgrade that raises a profile number but breaks rotation timing may not improve the team.
Exact coefficients and optimal thresholds require current-client evidence. This guide gives the decision order that remains valid while balance changes.
